Breaking Cycles of Poverty Through Skill-Based Empowerment
At Afrikan Women Diversity Centre (AWDC), we believe that true empowerment goes beyond charity—it’s about equipping women with practical tools that help them build independent, sustainable livelihoods.
Since our inception, we’ve trained over 120 women from underserved communities in Nairobi and beyond. Our skill-based empowerment programs focus on areas like sustainable fashion, public health awareness, and eco-friendly innovation. Whether it’s turning waste into wearable art or learning basic digital literacy, we aim to unlock the economic potential of every woman who walks through our doors.
Many of these women have gone on to start their own small businesses or contribute meaningfully to their households. For us, empowerment is not a one-off event—it’s a ripple effect that transforms families, communities, and generations.
“AWDC gave me a skill that now feeds my children,” says Irene, a mother of four from Kariobangi who now runs her own tailoring shop.
Through our mentorship circles, community workshops, and business incubation support, we’re redefining what it means to rise from poverty—not through handouts, but through hands-on learning.
